„Teaching English for medical professionals has been widely researched in the last decade as English represents today’s lingua franca of international communication not only in business or tourism but also in the medical environment. In the context in which more and more doctors intend to emigrate in English-speaking countries and considering the fact that a large number of students come to study Medicine in English in Romania, mastering English linguistic skills has become a must and it should be adapted so as to meet the academic and professional needs of such learners. On the other hand, most of the medical articles and journals are written in English and therefore, in order to be always in touch and updated with the latest medical research, development and technology one must be able to understand, speak, read and write in this language, take part in international conferences and interact with healthcare professionals from all over the world. This book comes to support them by providing tests that assess reading, writing, grammar and speaking abilities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Medical English. Interdisciplinary Language Training and Assessment<\/em>” is a book focused on vocabulary teaching and evaluation of linguistic skills for those who work or study in the field of medicine, for private study or use in the classroom. The book presents six upper intermediary tests which deal with medical terminology used in gastroenterology, hematology, cardiology, immunity, pneumology and not only. These terms are likely to be used in the hospital environment in order to communicate with other healthcare professionals or with patients. Topics covered include naming parts of the body, diseases, illnesses, instructions for filling in medical records, files and charts of for taking a patient’s medical history.” <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
