The present volume brings together, for the first time, the dramatic works of Robert Cohen, in a bilingual edition. Two of the plays were previously published in English, but the third (The Mobius Strip<\/em>) is published now for the first time. The three texts were also published in Romanian, in separate editions, on the occasion of their staging at the National Theater of Cluj, between 2011 and 2016.<\/p>\n The plays are very different both stylistically and thematically. Machiavelli<\/em> (written in 1997) is an impressive historical fresco with veritable and intense dramatic situations of intense drama, with spectacular overturns and vivid portraits of some famous historical figures of the time. The Mobius Strip<\/em> is a charming comedy with dramatic accents, whose protagonists are a gay couple and adolescent niece of one of them. The play was written in 1971, when the topic was still taboo, long before Tony Kushner's famous play Angels in America<\/em> (1993). Bzapp<\/em> (written in 1969) is a hallucinatory hyperbolizing comedy, whose (anti)hero – a prosperous businessman – crosses an existential crisis and seeks refuge into the psychedelic universe of drugs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Volumul de fa\u021b\u0103 reune\u0219te pentru prima oar\u0103 opera dramatic\u0103 a lui Robert Cohen, într-o edi\u021bie bilingv\u0103. Dou\u0103 dintre piese au fost publicate în englez\u0103, dar cea de a treia (The Mobius Strip<\/em>) apare acum pentru prima oar\u0103 \u0219i în original. Cele trei texte au mai ap\u0103rut în limba român\u0103, în volume separate, cu ocazia mont\u0103rii lor la Teatrul Na\u021bional din Cluj, între 2011 \u0219i 2016. <\/p>\n Piesele sunt foarte diferite atât stilistic, cât \u0219i tematic. Machiavelli <\/em>(scris\u0103 în 1997) este o impresionant\u0103 fresc\u0103 istoric\u0103, cu situa\u021bii veridice de un intens dramatism, cu r\u0103sturn\u0103ri spectaculoase \u0219i portrete consistente ale unor figuri celebre din epoc\u0103. Banda lui Moebius<\/em> este o fermec\u0103toare comedie, cu accente de dram\u0103, ai c\u0103rei protagoni\u0219ti sunt un cuplu gay<\/em> \u0219i nepoata adolescent\u0103 a unuia dintre ei.
